The “M” Word

For any male readers, you may want to just leave now.  Or perhaps read on …. if you’ve a hankerin’ to learn how these things work.  😉

So at age 52.5 I believed that I had finally reached the “M” word.  Menopause.  There are certain attributes of the “M” word that are fantastic …. the absence of “my friend” is the bomb.  And then it happened.  A little over a week ago “my friend” returned.  And with a vengeance.  What the hell??  And from what I hear, if that happens, the 12 month no friend clock starts all over again, before you can say you are in menopause.  Get the calendar out.

But then other bad things happen.  Tired all the time, fuzzy brain, bloated, weight gain, terribly achy joints, etc, etc.  These achy joints are what spurred me back into action on the eating clean path again.

I found that the last time I cleaned up my eating ways, I not only felt better in general, but my aches and pains went away as well.  We truly are what we eat!  And being I’ve been feeling like a 150 year old woman of late, it’s time.  Time to kick the salt and sugar to the curb.  Trash the processed and trade it in for fresh, homemade goodness.

After much research I’ve added Vit b6 and b12 to my daily routine.  Along with some calcium (which I was supposed to start taking about 5 years ago, but never did).  I also started back with Natural Progesterone Cream.  I had a bad bought of Pre”M” back when I was 38.  Used the Progesterone Cream back then and it did wonders.  Truly.  Totally balances out the estrogen in your body.    I just started using it again a few days ago.  Can’t WAIT for it to kick in so I can be balanced again.  Between the cream, the vitamins, clean eating and walking I should feel 35 again in no time!!

If you need more info on Natural Progesterone Cream pick up one of Dr. John R. Lee’s books:  “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PreMenopause” and “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause”.  I have them both and they are so helpful.

So, made The Pioneer Woman’s Chicken Florentine Pasta last night and it was deeeelicious!  Probably just having left overs and salad tonight.

Making homemade granola today.  Best granola on the planet!  You should try it.  Here’s the recipe.

Apparently the deep freeze is coming. I believe it’s supposed to get down to the teens for a couple of days.  Brrrrrr!  So glad I don’t live in Minnesota anymore!  Hope everyone stays warm and toasty.  Good days for homemade soups and stews for sure!

Happy Tuesday!

Starting Over

Hey Guys!

Happy New Year – 2015!!  A lot has happened since this little blog fell by the wayside.  My girlfriends and I were out walking this morning and talking about eating healthier, juicing, etc. and I was telling them about some of the recipes I used to make – BIFOTW (before I fell off the wagon).  I decided to look up this blog and see if it was still out there – and, low and behold, it was!  And I still remember the password to start blogging on it again!!

So enjoyed going back through and reading my posts.  What a journey I was on.  I’m inspired to be that person again!

Having fallen off the clean eating wagon over a year ago, I now am back at the place I was when I first started this blog back in 2012.  Well no more.  I’m tired of being that unhealthy person.  I’m ready to be strong and vibrant!  So I’ve got my grocery list made out, hopping in the shower and heading to the grocery to stock up on yummies!

Tonight I’ll be making The Pioneer Woman’s Chicken Florentine Pasta.  It is delicious!!  I’ll also be buying ingredients to make granola and yummy salads for lunch.  I also really like the lean ground beef and brown rice patties for lunch.  So many yummy things I used to eat!!  Can’t wait to get started again!!

Here’s to a vibrant New Year for us all!!

Glad to be back.  =>

Just a Quick Note…

So, it’s been a crazy week!  4 photo sessions in 5 days has kept me hopping!  But because I’m feeling so much better I’ve been keeping up pretty good!!  I’ve even continued to eat good.  As a matter of fact, Stephanie (my daughter) and I went to Panera Bread ysterday after my session and I was thrilled with my selection.  I’m just amazed how I’m not at all attracted to all the goodies and sweet stuff any more.  NEVER thought I would see the day!  Honestly.  They were packed as it was the lunch hour, so I had time to really look over the menu.  I ended up selecting the BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad.  I have to say it was out of this world.  Lettuce,  tiny sautéed onions and green peppers, grilled corn, black beans and grilled chicken cut in strips with a scant drizzle of bbq sauce on top.  The only really bad thing was the tortilla strips that were in it.  It would have been just fine without those.  And I did not touch the two side containers of dressing.  It was quite healthy and delicious.  Definitely something I could duplicate and enjoy at home.  So glad we went there.  🙂

I’ve allllllmost lost another pound.  Just.not.quite.there.yet.but.really.really.close.  Maybe tomorrow.  🙂

Absolutely love juicing.  I have a glass of something every morning with my breakfast and I have to say, between that and good eating I feel so energetic every day.  No more sinking spells.  Shoot I can even watch tv at night now without dozing off!  lol  Guess it’s time to start adding some walking.

The garden is looking good, although I did see that another lettuce bit the dust.  Not sure what’s going on with the Romaine.  They just kind of get limp and die.  Anybody know what the problem is?

So that’s it in a nutshell!  Just wanted to pop in and tell ya’ll hello!  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Dancing with the Stars tonight!  Woo Hoo!!  🙂

Just read a great quote:

“The simpler you get, the healthier you get.”

I think this applies to everything in our lives!
